The Face-Off
Little Mermaid

The Issue? It refuses to grow long and silky.
Now before anyone interjects with telling me that I may not be living in realistic-ville, let me tell you that when I first started university I had the most lovely mermaid hair. It was long with rings at the bottom. It was my pride and joy.
Then one crazy day, I did what I often do ... I acted on crazy spontaneity and in the moment. I took a section of my mermaid hair and I hacked it off, in what I thought at the time was a really funky style but I later realised after showering, was not what I imagined.
This set in course a hair scar, and unnatural desire to reclaim the hair from my past.
We all know about hair scars... those horrible hair moments that haunt you forever.
Take my friend Nellie. I remember in the 8th grade, she had the loveliest straightest most golden blonde hair. Sitting behind her in commerce, I used to wonder how hair could have no kinks in it at all, and how I might make my hair take on that look. But Nellie went to get a Perm and it took years for her to recover. Why? She went to the worst hairdresser in Oz. I am not joking, she literally went to a hairdresser that was a week later on a Current Affair for dodgy hair practices. Needless to say, within a week her hair starting falling out, and bad times followed.
Bad hair scar for her, and a big sign for me never to attempt a perm (no matter how motivating the image of Julia Roberts was in Pretty Woman).
So yes, I am still on the road to hair recovery but it seems not to want to grow past my shoulders...
WHY? WHY? WHY?
Please let it grow!
Oh, when will I be able to stand with my mermaid hair again?

hahahaha I am being told on msn that this is the randomnest post in the world...
What can I say, working in an office all day without natural light, human contact....
It makes you a little nutty...
Hey... maybe I can start singing like Ariel does...
" I want to be where the people are...
I want to see, want to see them dancing...
Dancing around on those, what do you call them? Feet"
LOL... how amusing.
Signing off.
That is because it *was* a random post!
Ah, I remember when I had my long, 'luxurious' hair cut off by that sinister bastard James. I've never regretted it, but I often wonder what it would be like to have all that hair back again. Then I remember that it's probably still stuffed behind a radiator on the ground floor of that Melbourne conference site, and that if I wanted the shitlock back, it's right there. Pass.
Captain Clarity Chris strikes again :-) I know, I know... I can be the mother of random.
Neo dude...I remember that conference, and that hair crime. How funny to think about it! Wasn't that also the conference where James took the epilady to Martys underarms?
James and his evil conference crimes :-)
Well, I just shaved off my moustache. I left a little bit under my lip and at the bottom of my chin. My roommate/best friend lust laughs at me every time he sees me. I think it is rather endearing however he says it makes me look like a little boy.
You know, they have straight perms out there. I have met a few girls who's gotten them - they all turned out silky straight and lovely!
DJ Kev...
or the New freely shaved DJ Kev... thats always a big step for guys right? To shave off a goaty or moustache? I know one of my friends from Slovakia, who also shaved his off and looked heaps younger aswell but it was a HUGE thing for him to do, and apparently he felt naked for awhile or exposed to the world :-)
Sheila babeā¦
Straight Perms? Really... people actually do that? Whoa...I am so out of the new things that hairdressers can do these days. I guess I still have a fear of hairdressers...
These people possess so much power over humanity... one bad move, and a person can be traumatised for ages...
:-)
Isn't a straight perm an oxymoron, Sheila?
As you have people talking about cutting hair, I thought I would tell you that I had a shave this morning, Mazzy :)
You shaved this morning?
What time did it happen?
Approximately 11.45am. Would you like me to post a comment on your blog each time I have a shave, along with the time, products used, and approximate length of time?
LOL how funny if I said yes!!
Captain Random!
hahahah no I wanted to demonstrate... BLOGGING GONE TOO FAR!
:-)
I admit I am also a blog and posting addict. I found the best blog yesterday though about a guy living with his roommate... it was hilarious.
Anyway.... kind of strange blogging to you and talking to you on msn at the same time... I will now reconvert to msn format.
Hugs Mazzy xx
I guess you had to be there for that guy and his roommate to be hilarious :-P
Ok, back to msn then :)
PS - Gilette Excel Razor, Gilette tea tree foaming gel, T-zone aftershave balm, approximately 10 minutes ;)
YOU ARE THE BIGGEST OF ALL MONGS!
hahahah... I will send you the blog link, and you will find it hilarious, you loser.
Gosh, these New Zealanders...
Honestly...
*sob*
okay, okay, I'm going to attempt to inject some seriousness into this conversation.
Mazzy, I have the same problem as you but you would NEVER guess it because my hair is always straight and silky.
My secret is this horribly expensive, but SUPER useful hair straightener and this grooming product from Kiehls. For the past 4 years I've been buying my hair straighteners in the US because the US allows higher heat (1800v). Don't buy one in Canada unless you have to. If and when you come to NYC I'll take you to Ricky's where they have an entire wall of straighteners to choose from, AN ENTIRE WALL!! It was my heaven. The one I have can be used around the world with no voltage adapters, heaven I tell you. Unfortunately, its pricey.
As a side note, the permanent straighting is good too..but often very expensive, and I'm afraid it'll make my already dry hair fall out.
Asha babe... you are my hair goddess.
Thanks for the really practical advice.. I appreciate it.
I had no idea long silky hair was only a bottle away...
Hugs Maz xx
