Home

So after a week in the US, I finally arrived home at 10.30pm last night to Montreal.

Driving into the CBD of Montreal, I was struck by this huge feeling of 'HOME'. Being on the bus with French and English again, looking out at all the street signs, all the familiar places I was really struck by how relaxed I felt.

And safe.

Montreal has this real community feeling about it. I am not afraid to travel late at night, I find most people to be friendly when interacting, and it is very much a place with its own culture, its own ambience.

Quebec has its own distinct personality, it's own distinct way.

I love walking down the street hearing different languages
I love partying to Francophone and Anglophone tunes
I love that the city is centralised around four main horizontal streets: Rene -Levesque, Saint-Catherine, De Maisonnerve, and Sherbrooke
I love the trendiness of my suburbs - The Plateau, the McGill Ghetto, and Cote Des-Neiges

I love that I feel safe, feel creative, feel comfortable... and feel at home.

Untill this point I actually had no idea how much this unusual Canadian city had grown on me.

Well, I guess New York didn't really feel safe for you. All the passport trouble, the scary subway ride, the living without spending money, the sleeping in the train,... Hope you still had a good time here! :)
