RAGE
I am dealing with possibly the worlds MOST frustrating, unhelpful and bureacratic woman for my passport application.
Never in my life have I ever met such an unrelenting stickler for details, and someone who clearly is feeling POWER in her authority position.
Here are some examples of the goodness she offers:
Mazzy: Did you receive the fax I sent you?
Captain Frustration: The fax machine is located in the other office, so I wouldn't have, would I?
Captain Frustration: You have insufficient ID. Would you like to cancel your application?
Mazzy: Umm NO (obviously not). What do I need to do to best fulfill the requirements? (the next most logical question right?)
Captain Frustration: We need you to send another set of photos through, with another guarantor.
Mazzy: Ok So I need to courier another form to you.
Captain Frustration: Yes, you should go to the internet and fill out the entire application again, then send in page 3, it is the only way to access it.
Mazzy: Would it be easier for you to just email me a copy?
Captain Frustration: We cannot do that.
I have NO WORDS to accurately describe this woman. It is like she is getting joy from every obstacle that we face, and finds the best approach is not NOT offer advice to overcome it. I mean it is pretty crazy, when I am the one asking the prompt questions to move the process along.
What REALLY frustrates me is that she is a ambassador of Australia - and I am so angry with the service she has provided to me as an Australian abroad. I feel like I am a criminal, it is beyond crazy. Instead of actively helping me to address the situation I am in, she has become an obstacle for me moving forward.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh - RAGE!

Kill em all I say!
Surya: As an Indian citizen, what are the visa requirements to work in Turkey for the summer and how long would the processing take?
Lady: I am sorry, I cannot entertain such questions without a completed application mailed to me.
Surya: Well, I need to know what is required of me before mailing an application.
Lady: You have to check with Turkey to know what the requirements are for an Indian citizen.
Surya: Is that not the purpose of the consulate?
Lady: I don't have that information available. Thank you for calling sir, and please call back after you have mailed your application to us.
My goodness, I FEEL your pain.
What is with these people?
Seriously.
Let's unite forces and strike!!!
mazz babe,
u r not alone..my trainee (well I'm also TN now ;p ) have more worse problem. They must travell for 2 country (Singapore and Malaysia) just to get visa and believe me they are not helpfull at all.
FIGHT mazz!!
Dear Mazzy and all the others who've commented, I feel your pain. Similar “patience training” was also lined up for me as I was returning back for my exchange studies in Singapore from Thailand after the tsunami. Getting new passport from my embassy wasn't difficult at all, since I had luckily put my driver's license in a safe pocket with me. (And the consul actually wrote that new passport, out of all places, at the Phuket International Airport’s Burger King :)
Anyway, I got stamped into Singapore with 14 days time to sort my paper work... Conscientiously I filled police reports, picked up photo copies of previous student pass & passport and go to the immigrations. At the queue for real queue number the lady refuses the give me any number without official new application and uni’s stamps on it. I found it very bizarre, since they still had my previous, accepted application there with all the proper stamps, but no can do.
I go there again a few days later, after getting all the required stamps etc. Hours of queuing to different counters, and nobody really seemed to know how to handle this case. Apparently operations manual doesn’t have a page for tsunamis or other natural disasters :-P Well, finally they sent me for an interview, and there the lady is on top of the situation: we get the application filed and I get my student pass later on. All's well that ends well? Maybe, but having just survived a tsunami and volunteered at hospitals and thus feeling pretty exhausted, this meticulous attitude was certainly most frustrating!

I AM FIGHTING ON with this woman today!
